The PK21 landing at the end of the Dégrad Saramaca road in Guyana (973) is the central access point to the Kourou River. Fishermen, riverside residents and those who come to stay in carts frequent this landing. Following renovation works, it is now secured by Novea Energies solar-powered autonomous lighting. At the beginning of 2019, the landing stage was completely renovated and modernised. The work carried out makes it easier for boats to access the Kourou River. The water access ramp and the parking lot have been resized to allow dugout canoes to embark and disembark easily, whatever their size. To provide comfort to users, a carbet and five benches have been installed, and above all lighting has been installed to secure the parking lot, carbet, garbage area and landing stage. The solution chosen for the lighting of the PK21 is a stand-alone Novea Energies solar-powered solution: the MULTI solution. A MULTI TOP 6 control unit is installed next to the carbet to supply two GRIFF S luminaires in side lights to illuminate the carbet and eight street lights equipped with GRIFF S luminaires on top of masts for the other areas of the PK21. The MULTI TOP 6 solar power station is equipped with a 2 x 260 Wp photovoltaic solar panel inclined at 15° on a five-metre mast, and a 1,408 Wh battery at the top of the mast. All the technical equipment is located under the solar panel to avoid the risk of flooding or vandalism. The lampposts connected to this solar power station are GRIFF S luminaires from the RAGNI range. Eight are positioned on top of five-metre masts and two are positioned on wall-mounted luminaires. The masts of the solar power station and the GRIFF S luminaires have a Kentucky wood finish to blend in with the natural, wooded landscape of the PK21 landing stage. All luminaires are switched on at full power for three hours from dusk. During the rest of the night, the ten luminaires ensure that the various areas of the PK21 are marked out thanks to a 20% dimming mode. A presence detection system is associated with this lowering mode to switch the luminaires to full power as soon as a user needs them. This program provides lighting adapted to the need, ensuring the safety and comfort of users without lighting at full power all night long and thus protecting fauna and flora. The MULTI solar power station system proposed by Novea Energies is an innovative and easy to implement solution, which allows the production of energy to be moved away from the points of light, in this case GRIFF S luminaires on poles or surface-mounted luminaires. The solar energy is transmitted from the power station to the luminaires using a very low voltage network (24 Volts) which simplifies civil engineering work compared to traditional wired lighting which requires a 220 V network. The operation of these solar street lights does not require any electrical subscription to an energy supplier, as they operate using the solar energy developed by the power station, in this case MULTI TOP 6. This energy self-sufficient lighting solution offers luminous comfort and user safety while limiting the environmental impact of public lighting. The MULTI solution is especially appreciated for its aesthetic aspect, due to the fact that the source of energy production and management is shared on a single point. This solution is also suitable for places where there is a lot of vegetation, as the power plant makes it possible to overcome the difficulties of shading and solar gain that this generates.
