The municipality of Chaumes-en-Retz, in Loire Atlantique (44 - France), has opted for Novéa Énergies solar streetlights to secure two pedestrian crossings. Two COMBI TOP 5 with a 260 Wp solar panel and a 1064 Wh battery, with TEKK S luminaire, offer more visibility to pedestrians wishing to cross the road, making them more easily perceptible to motorists and road users and thus providing greater safety. These lampposts provide quality lighting to secure both pedestrian crossings. They illuminate at full power for six hours after dusk, and two hours before dawn. Between these two periods of full power lighting, the streetlights switch to a lowering mode at 40% of maximum power, in order to mark these two high-risk areas. The dimming mode makes it possible not to provide lighting at full power when the need is limited, and thus provide reasoned lighting. Dimming mode has the advantage of extending the life of the street lighting components such as the battery and luminaire, which are only used at full power when necessary. These two streetlights were installed simply, without heavy roadwork (trenching, track repair, network installation). In a traditional cabled electrical solution, connection to the electricity grid would have been costly and would have caused traffic disruptions, while only a concrete block is needed to anchor our solar streetlights to the ground. The integration of this energy-saving lighting solution has therefore facilitated installation work and limited investment. Solar-powered street lighting is also an ecological solution because it limits the environmental impacts of public lighting by offering an alternative to the consumption of fossil fuels and pollutants. In addition, the operation of these totally autonomous lighting lamppposts does not result in any electricity subscription to an electricity supplier. Novea Energies solar streetlights are equipped with batteries with Endurance+ technology, developed after 6 years of Research and Development in partnership with the C.E.A. energy storage laboratory of Grenoble. These Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries offer the longest service life on the market, more than 22 years (up to an overall capacity loss of 20%). Extending the life of a battery limits the use of primary resources and greatly reduces the recycling process.
